Re Mermaids. I suspect they are in financial do do. According to Glinner, for their last year financial year their income was about £1.8m of which £1.6m came from donations. We know that the National Lottery has suspended a large payment (£500K?)for this year. I suspect other doners are having second thoughts. E.g Tesco has contributed in the past. A few months ago on their corporate website's charity page was a big box about Mermaids and how proud that Tesco was to support them. This has now disappeared!
Im glad we are on that page. For me as a Poz guy, I have felt for years after contacting THT multiple times for support when employers provided none, that I was not in a risky enough category for THT to help (though it was never explained). Through the pandemic my eyes were opened not because of GC views, but the clear lack of ambition by the gov/nhs and THT to advocate for us fully. We were targeted for vax trials, we were given invalid letters of shielding, we were scared into silence by our health provider, had our outpatient center closed and moved due to covid without consultation (and not moved back), as well as a reduced opportunity to seek medical help and THT didn't stand up for us through this.
Running along side this the Trans debate became clear to me, but only in the last year I realised that THT is not only signposting trans issues, but they are furthering them to the detriment of the LGB in the Poz community. Specifically they have conflated issues of racial ID with Trans ID. Now this move with Gareth Thomas to promote Trans sports eroding women's sports security is yet another revealing issue which highlights how the board and trustees of THT are not there to work for those who are Poz. They have other alternative goals; highlighted by their proposed new Medical Director, a woman, who is meant to have a background in cardio-surgery and …. Trans Surgery. They hid all the trustee and proposed new trustee details a couple months ago when Gareth’s Pozzing scandal hit, but I wouldn't be surprised if these new directors and trustees are still heading into their roles in due time. Captured doesn't begin to explain the deception in THT.
I wonder why the Chief Exec is moving on? A merri-go-round of jobs in the charity sector seems to be formed around sterilising kids and protecting male sexual deviants.
Where can we as gay men with HIV go when the organisation that was meant to be for us has been coopted by such pure evil? Keep writing for us guys. Be our voice. Say what is hard to say, place it in context of your listener's voices if that works in legal terms for you, but please do say it.
Couldn't agree more with you mate, I stopped a direct debit to THT over this issue. Years ago I saw them doing vital work brilliantly, now they are much as you describe, another institutionally captured body completely neglecting it's original mission and constituency.
Well ive noted my issues with this Ex-Rugby Player.. untouchable apparently! Still working for THT. Probably paid his ex-BF off. Now on his mission against women trying to put men in womens sports. Perhaps you might talk about him now?

O I guess I feel the subject of THT has warranted more scrutiny than its got. Apologies. Mr Thomas to me, is a poor choice for trustee. Try listening to his podcast on itunes I dare you. That along with his allegations from his ex-bf. The way THT have politicised their way through monkeypox. And now jumping on the Qatar bandwagon with the clear intention of supporting trans identifying men into womens sports. If they only had time for real-life gay men living with HIV hey! Took a boat load of money through lockdown to use for phonelines as agony aunts, but we saw very little support for those of us living with HIV through corona virus. Though it was nice PREP was rolled out march 2020! Better late than the never.
So many of these organisations are no different to GIDS, there is absolutely no saving them from the infestation of gender identity ideology and we need to close them and start again.
