The parlous quality of GRA debate exposed

A new chap on YouTube is exposing the ignorance and duplicity of our legislators

Short post this but I wanted to try to bring attention to some extremely learned and well expressed videos by Alf, a patient and rational chap who does a deep dive into a markedly low quality debate in the commons.

Lobby groups provide parliamentarians who lack diligence and intellectual curiosity with misinformation and rhetorical garbage to further some pretty dubious aims all the time denying the fact that on any rational view we presently face a series of contest of rights challenges. You can see where this gets us in the analysis of the following debate; intersex/DSD conditions are cynically and incorrectly used to buttress weak arguments, surveys of female opinion in the UK are disingenuously presented (or just misunderstood, it’s not clear which) and the standard of legal knowledge on show would be poor in a first year law undergraduate. Among other things, you’ll see if you make it to the third video an inability by a legislator to understand the civil / criminal divide, the provisions of the Equality Act, the text of the World Health Organisation document he cites in support etc.

Alf it must be said is the perfect antidote to this intellectual car crash as he patiently and clearly analyses the arguments with detailed reference to source material - a very important voice in this debate. I look forward to more videos by him.
