How in the early 21st Century did a mind/body dualist ideology come to exercise unparalleled control over the state, third sector, companies and unions? What was it about the belief that humans can be born into the wrong sex body that made for such a powerful and potent social force?
In the wake of a reality check of a Supreme Court Judgment for political transvestitism, I consider what this movement was and is, how it came to be so successful, how it seems to be largely ultimately defeated and what it tells us about Western societies and the strength of the enlightenment.
In this first episode I consider two of the four questions I pose regarding the character of gender identity ideology and political transvestitism and assess the truth claims they make.
First, is the foundational claim of gender ideology by nature religious? Does it fit with enlightenment epistemology, do all humans have a gender identity even if they think they don’t? Or is the claim better viewed as an article of faith, a political conceit, a strategy for the reconfiguration of society with an abolished female sex class?
Second, I consider where this ideology came from, is it a Marxist malady or a manifestation of corporate greed? Can it be considered from some points of view both or neither?
I hope you enjoy this and it provokes some interesting discussion, do feel free to correct me, debate or leave comments below.
