A man has a man-shaped view of the world

Long time since I've attempted Kavanagh poetry, here I go again :)

If you are a man

You have a man-shaped view of the world

This fleshy, lumbering, annoying, ever insistent thing which knocks around clumsily yet is capable of heroic feats of grace in sport or art or erudition

This visual thing

This thing which moves on the moment away from threats or to meet them

This thing which is quick to move in all things, anger or reason

This man shaped-body

This is your lens

So when they, the other half of humanity speak

And you listen through your man shaped view of the world and your man shaped body

And you are surprised they menstruate or miscarry in toilets

Or you hear their primal fear of walking home alone

Through your man-shaped ears

You interpret and interrogate your life via your native language

Your language is a human with a dick between his legs

You have a man-shaped body

And a man-shaped understanding

They have a woman-shaped body

And a woman-shaped understanding

These are no interchangeable things

These are primal and basic

Yin and Yang, Night and Day, This and that

Your man-shaped body and your man-shaped understanding

Let it give you a man-shaped understanding of your man-shaped understanding
